Primary documents about assimilation This link to the Library of Congress Memory project is filled with images, reports about the Indian Schools. A Search for the Carlisle Indian School yields images of the founder of the school and copies of reports he sent to Congress.
Native American Artist's work This etching is attributed to the reknowned Native American artist, Jesse J. Cornplanter—created in the early 1900s—representing an example of Senaca village life.
Newspaper Illustration This is an illustration on the front page of a newpaper. This would be a great activity piece for students to assess the stereotypes and misconceptions of Native Americans.

6D1-Maps and Video
Animated map of Indian Lands This animated map shows how the Native Americans have been pushed off their land since the invasion of European settlers.
Indian Steps Museum This is a video about the Indian Steps Museum across the river in York County. It tours the grounds and the "cottage" that became the museum.
Archeological Studies of Susquahannock Indians This is a digital report in the Penn State Digital library that reports on the archaelogical dig on the site of Roberts farm along the Susquehanna River. The report contains maps, photos of dig site, artifacts, and burial pits, as well as a detailed narrative. This file is too large to upload into this wiki. I think that I will use Jing to extract the specific images and maps that I want to use in my final project.
Kill the Indian, Save the Man video A powerful collage of memories of a former student at the Carlisle Indian School
Rebuidling Indian Country A video produced by the American government in 1933. This will be an interesting piece for discussion about Indian stereotypes.
